THE ENSEMBLE

JAZZ :||: SYMPOSIUM

… is a distinguished jazz ensemble dedicated to performing jazz compositions with the same reverence and fidelity as a classical orchestra approaches the works of composers like Mozart and Beethoven. The band honors the essence of each piece by presenting it in its original form—untainted and unaltered—while interpreting it at the highest level and allowing room for the improvisational talents of its members.

JAZZ :||: SYMPOSIUM continues to set a standard for how jazz can be both old school and innovative, offering audiences a musical journey that is as exhilarating as it is authentic, bridging the timeless elegance of jazz history with the dynamic energy of contemporary performance.

THE VENUE

The Cinegrill Theater at the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel

… has long been a cornerstone of Los Angeles’s music scene, offering an intimate and elegant setting for legendary performances. Since its establishment in the 1930s, this historic venue has attracted some of the most celebrated musicians and Hollywood celebrities, making it a beloved spot for music lovers.

During the golden age of Hollywood, the Cinegrill became renowned as a premier jazz club, where stars like Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra would not only perform but also mingle with the audience. The theater’s cabaret-style shows were the talk of the town, drawing in the likes of Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, and Marilyn Monroe, who would gather to enjoy the soulful sounds of jazz in a sophisticated, yet cozy atmosphere.

The theater’s Art Deco design, with its plush seating and intricate details, provided the perfect backdrop for these unforgettable nights of music. As jazz evolved, so did the Cinegrill, hosting a new generation of performers while retaining the timeless charm that made it a favorite among both artists and audiences. Today, the Cinegrill continues to celebrate its rich jazz heritage, offering a unique blend of classic Hollywood glamour and world-class live music.
